Let me start by issuing a large thanks for the roles you played in my education and career. I feel very strongly that our program at Poly goes unmatched with regard to the graphic design skills acquired and the knowledge of creative process that has allowed me to become a successful business professional. Over the past few years I have leveraged my experiences and what was taught to me to make great strides in my career. Currently I am the Web Design Supervisor for Pacific Sunwear or PacSun (as the cool kids call it) a national specialty retailer of casual apparel with over 900 stores populating most malls in America (We have one in the Pismo Beach Outlets). We were rated within the top 10 of apparel business' for 2003 and received the honor of being one of Fortune's top 20 best performing stocks over the last decade, we were the only apparel company on that list. My immediate job responsibilities include art and creative direction for all aspects of the website ranging from flash content pieces, email newsletter designs, production updates, photo shoot art direction and currently an entire site redesign and development. Other pieces include managing our brand online and an in-house design team of 3 web designers, 2 web designer/developers and a traffic manager. I also negotiate contract creative work, so there never seems to be a break in the action and I got to tell you I love it that way! I'm really excited to hear how all of you have been doing and I hope life and work for all of you has been just outstanding. Just to let you know a tidbit of info the "universal traveler" was brought up at a design and technology conference I attended in SF. I'm a designer at the same design firm that hired me right after graduation, Curran & Connors. C&C is one of the nation's largest annual report design firms. Our company is headquartered in New York, but I work with three other designers and an art director in the Bay Area. On a typical day I handle over half a dozen accounts simultaneously. Some of my clients include: Beckman Coulter, Nektar Therapeutics, La Quinta Inns & Suites, JAKKS Pacific and World Poker Tour. I won't lie, work keeps me busy beyond belief, but I enjoy it, good times and bad. Enough about me. This site is a great idea! Whats been going on eh? Well Its has been a slow ascend into pure madness, a good madness that is. I am in the film biz, the art department side of film making. I am a production designer / art director. It is quite rewarding and it has become possible because of the wonderful art&design faculty. Thanks ya all.
