Finished at Cal Poly in 1982. Best classes were with Tina Orr-Cahal, Chuck, Pierre, Bob D. Also history department and art history. Moved to New York City in 82. Freelance graphic design. Started in Documentary film as a researcher and designer and moved into Production Coordination and Production Management. Studied Figure at The Art Student's League. Returned to Los Angeles in 1990. Currently involved with community projects to build a theater for Santa Monica City College, Madison Theater Project. Graphic Design is not my major field of focus at this time, but it informs a great deal of my work.

I really enjoyed sparring with the entire Art & Design faculty (Pierre, John, Dan, Chuck, Bob and George included). As 1st president of the Design Club, I apologize now for any impish trouble I may have lead my class into. After graduating in '82, I worked as a junior designer in a Cardiff CA studio. In '84 I moved up to LA, working on the Olympics with Debra Sussman. As time and assigments moved on, I became a partner in a Brentwood design studio for a decade or so. Currently I'm living in Sherman Oaks with my wife Patricia (Cal Poly sweetheart) and two boys (17 & 9). Since the turn of the millennium, I've founded Dragonfly Design Group, a studio of four likable and talented characters (including Aaron Trask --class of 2000).

After a few years of designing at ad agencies, I went freelance. Since 1990 I've been taking morning conference calls in my pj's. Ok, only sometimes. Business is good, life is good. San Luis spoiled us, so my Cal Poly grad husband and I settled just a bit south in Ventura County. We profoundly hope that one of our three kids will attend Cal Poly to give us an excuse to visit more often, and to point out to them various locations on campus and explain (as they roll their eyes) that yet another building on campus "used to be a grassy area", and that the drawing classes "used to be there, in the Air Conditioning building." Hi to all my inspiring teachers (Bob, Bob, Chuck, Pierre) and to fellow alumni; would enjoy hearing from you.

After six years of production and Design, got into sales. Sold prepress in San Francisco for three years and have been selling commercial printing and fulfillment for 13 years. Currently employed with Watemark Press in San Francisco, who has just been bought by Consolidated Graphics out of Houston, and is now one of 70 shops nationwide. Still do painting on the side, and have some published poems! I am married to a former NFL Defensive end and have a 3 1/2 year old son named Jack.

I worked in the Silicon Valley, then was hired by BBDO West in Los Angeles as a Junior Art Director where I worked under the legendary Jerry Bonar. Then a Senior Art Director at Phillips and Arnold Buck in San Diego. Everywhere I worked I was told that I should teach so I got my Masters. I currently chair the graphic design program at San Diego City College-an inner city urban community college that lies on the border. I worked as a consultant for Art Center College of Design to develop their extension program iin San Diego. I was appointed by the Mayor of San Diego as the Art and Culture chair of the downtown vision plan. I directed the Urban Art Trail Project, served as VP for AIGA San Diego and my passion is teaching and learning.

Upon graduating I moved to Los Angeles and worked for Intralink Film Graphic Design from 82-90 designing main titles, logos and 1-sheets for a variety of movies, from Gremlins to Buckaroo Banzai. Tired of the entertainment industry I moved to Sacramento and taught high school for 4 years and got back into graphics full time in the mid 90's, I now work for an advertising agency as art director and freelance the rest of the time. I am proud to have been in the first freshman class under the new major back in 77, decades ago.
